In the month of December, 2014, our Weekend Art Classes focused on
the concept of 'Text and Image' - to narrate a written story i.e. text through
Visual Arts i.e image.
On Sunday (7th December) the kids made their first story-book.
The classes ran through every Saturday & Sunday [Kids (4 - 9
yrs) 11.00 am - 1.00 pm
Youth (10 - 15 yrs) 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm]/
Art is very similar to spoken/ written language. Both, art and
language are a vehicle for the transmission of ideas. Which visual imagery
emerge in mind when we read a story or hear one? How can a text or word be
communicated through Visual Arts? Which elements one is required to concentrate
upon in a literary piece [For e.g. a Jataka story or a Panchatantra one] to
build a painted or illustrated version of it? What could be the Visual language
of such a composition?
Our effort is to value inner expressions and to channelize ways of
seeing and perceiving word-text-image.
